
The newsletter deadline is in the middle of the month, so there is an inevitable lag in what can go in. As this is being written, the current administration has declared war on paper straws. While some among us can remember a time when they were the only option, it seems like an unusually petty thing. It’s a truism, however, that small habits can make a difference if enough people adopt them. Of course, you could just avoid straws altogether and opt out of the fuss.
Nevertheless, climate change is a major problem that is causing serious repercussions both here and around the world. Much of today’s large immigration movement is caused by environmental devastation, with no end in sight. Add to that losses in food production and expensive disaster emergencies, and climate change is now impossible to ignore.
The Eco-Justice Team is hoping to undertake a bigger project than we have thus far, in conjunction with our 75th anniversary. Our towering steeple has been a landmark in our neighborhood for generations, and we all hope it has been, and will continue to be, a landmark of faith, hope, and love.
