On February 2, 2025, a group of 3 members of Bower Hill Community Church hiked the Montour trail from Cecil Park to Galati Road. While the temperature had warmed up to 31, it was a bit chilly with the wind blowing. The first 400 yards of the trail was clear of ice but after the it was quite icy with a few occasional breaks. Luckily, we were able to walk on the sides of the trail which was clear or had snow rather than ice. After walking on the uphill connector trail out of Cecil Park we turned right on the Montour trail. After about a mile we crossed over route 50 at Venice. About ½ mile after that we came to the split in the trail with the spur that goes to Westland. We continued on the main trail, past Galati road. About ¼ miles after Galati road, the ice got worse and we decided it was time to turn around for the return trip to the car. Even with the icy conditions, it was a great winter day to get out. |
