Ponderings from the Parish Associate - April 2025

Transitions in life seem to be occurring more rapidly as one ages.  The child you diapered a week or so ago now is in college.  The rotary phone is now a gadget you can use to do almost anything. It is really difficult to keep up.

Some of the transitions are quite difficult.  We downsize to smaller living space. We transition from an active vibrant daily routine to a more sedentary lifestyle.  And, perhaps most difficult to accept is a transition from total independence to a need to seek more and more assistance to get through the day.

As we read the gospels and track the ministry of Jesus, we experience so many transitions in his life and ministry.  It seems to be a roller coaster of emotions as there is movement from seeming defeat to ultimate victory.  The communities that evolve in their worship of the Christ also go through many transitions, some of victory and some of defeat.

In all of the transitions we experience, we need to always affirm that the Christ that we worship, the love that He has for us is always the same and never diminishes.  The spirit of the called-out community cares for us in all of our transitions.
