Ponderings from the Parish Associate - November 2024

TURKEY? When November comes around, many of us begin to think about Turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes, and all the other sides for the meal. It is probably my favorite meal. Ever since I left home, I have been the one to cook the turkey, much the

same as my mom did.

But I also remember my father always writing a check to an agency that would provide a meal to the hungry. Hunger is a horrible gnawing feeling that very few reading this will have experienced. Yet, I doubt if there is a nation in the world that does not have those that experience this almost ever day. Try as we might, regardless of the size of our charity, it is never eliminated.

Hunger can also be something for other than food and can be almost as devastating. Whether it is freedom, health, housing or something else, it gnaws at us and continues to impact our daily life.

As part of the called out Christian community, let us continue to remember to act on Christ’s words, “If you have done it unto the least of these, you have done it unto me.”
