As we enter the fall season, it is a time of transition. Leaves are falling, pumpkins are being carved and mums are being planted. It can be a happy time as we look forward to many festivities that await us. However, it can be a sad time as we take down awnings and pack away porch furniture.
The writer of Euclasites tell us, “for everything there is a time and a season.” The church has long been a place where we have celebrated and acknowledged these passing seasons of our lives. From baptisms through to memorial services, the gathered
community has been the place and the people that have shared these moments with us.
Liturgically, this is known as “ordinary time,” meaning there are no church festivals until we come to Advent. However, ordinary is also a time to gather and enjoy the opportunity for fellowship. It is also a time to expand and deepen our faith in God’s providence. It is my wish that, if able, you will worship with us and celebrate the ordinary!
